Tragedy Strikes Dwarka: Father and Two Children Perish in Apartment Blaze, Fall from Building in Desperate Escape
New Delhi, India – June 10, 2025 – A devastating fire engulfed an apartment building in Dwarka’s Sector 13 this morning, claiming the lives of three members of a family – a father and his two young children – in a desperate attempt to escape the raging inferno. The horrific incident at the Shabd Apartment complex has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the terrifying choices faced by residents trapped in high-rise fires.

The blaze reportedly erupted on the seventh floor of the residential building around 10:00 AM, rapidly spreading and filling the upper floors with thick, suffocating smoke. Eyewitnesses recounted a harrowing scene as a man, identified as 35-year-old Yash Yadav, along with his 10-year-old son and young daughter, apparently jumped from their apartment in a desperate bid to save themselves from the escalating flames.
Both children were rushed to Akash Hospital but were tragically declared dead upon arrival. Yash Yadav, critically injured from the fall, was taken to IGI Hospital, where he too succumbed to his injuries. Yadav’s wife and another elder son reportedly survived the fire and were also admitted to IGI Hospital for medical attention.
Upon receiving the distress call at 10:01 AM, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) swiftly dispatched eight fire tenders to the scene. Firefighting operations commenced immediately, with efforts focused on containing the blaze and rescuing any trapped residents. Visuals from the site painted a grim picture, with massive flames erupting from the windows of the affected flat and dark plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and investigations are underway. However, the incident underscores the critical importance of robust fire safety measures, regular drills, and effective evacuation plans in multi-storey residential complexes. Residents of the building were in a state of panic, with many evacuating their homes as firefighters battled the flames.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been notified to assess the structural stability of the Shabd Apartment complex in the aftermath of the fire. Medical and support teams have been deployed to the hospitals to assist the affected family.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable and devastating nature of fires, especially in densely populated urban areas. The desperation that drove a father and his children to such an extreme measure speaks volumes about the terror they must have experienced. As the city mourns this profound loss, calls for stricter adherence to fire safety norms and more efficient emergency response systems are likely to intensify, hoping to prevent such heart-wrenching tragedies in the future.
