VinFast VF6 & VF7 Launched In India At Rs. 16.49 Lakh

In a significant move for the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market, Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially debuted in the country with the launch of two new electric SUVs: the VF6 and VF7. This milestone follows the recent commencement of production at its new manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu, solidifying VinFast’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.

Initially, both models will be introduced via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route, with more vehicles planned for the future. The company has already opened reservations for the VF6 and VF7 on its official website, allowing prospective customers to get a head start.

The VF6 is poised to be an attractive option for urban commuters and small families. With a starting price of ₹16.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base trim, it offers a compelling package. The VF6 measures 4,238 mm in length and 1,820 mm in width, with a generous wheelbase of 2,730 mm, ensuring a spacious cabin. Its 423-liter boot space adds to its practicality.

From a design perspective, the VF6 stands out with its modern styling, featuring a connected rear LED light bar and signature V-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights. The coupe-like styling from the side profile gives it a unique, sporty edge.

Under the hood, the VF6 is equipped with a 59 kWh Li-ion battery pack. It is available in two trims:

Earth: Produces 174 hp and 250 Nm of torque.

Wind and Wind Infinity: Delivers a more powerful 204 hp and 310 Nm of torque.

The VF6 boasts a WLTP-certified range of 399 km for the Eco trim and 381 km for the Plus trim. Thanks to DC fast-charging capability, it can be replenished from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes, making long journeys more manageable.

The VinFast VF7: Upmarket, Powerful, and Feature-Rich
For those seeking a more premium and powerful EV, the VinFast VF7 steps up to the plate. Priced from ₹20.89 lakh to ₹25.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the VF7 is packed with more features and technology. It comes in both Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) layouts, catering to different driving preferences.

The standard variant of the VF7 uses a 75.3 kWh battery pack, generating 201 hp and 309 Nm of torque. It offers an impressive WLTP-claimed range of 451 km on a full charge. The more powerful Plus variant delivers a substantial 348 hp and 499 Nm of torque, although the added performance brings the range down to a still-respectable 431 km.

Inside, the VF7’s cabin is centered around a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with integrated Google apps. The cabin is designed for comfort and convenience, featuring ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and ambient lighting.

Safety is a top priority for the VF7, which comes with seven airbags and a comprehensive suite of Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems). This includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and more, providing an added layer of safety and confidence on the road.

VinFast’s entry into the Indian market with these two models marks a pivotal moment for the country’s burgeoning EV landscape, offering consumers a fresh choice with a focus on modern design, advanced technology, and competitive pricing.
